WWII: The Japanese threat warrants a fortification of the northern territories, which prompts a herculean effort by the US Army Corps of Engineers to build a road where no one else would dare. Between 1942 and 1943 over 900 miles of rugged terrain in the Canadian wilderness between Dawson Creek to Fairbanks are cut down, excavated and paved for army and civilian movement.
